Double Dutch is a cross-cultural comedy platform created by comedian Derek Mitchell. Through short-form videos, live shows and a comedy newsletter, Double Dutch explores cultural differences between Dutch, British and American people.

Double Dutch spans online and live comedy content, commentary and well-known characters, all filtered through Dutchness – in its direct, deeply practical, wind-and-coffee loving glory.
And no one is let off the hook: North Americans, Brits and other Europeans also feature as characters across hundreds of sketches.
Across channels, the world of Double Dutch has nearly a million followers and has been viewed nearly a billion times. And it continues to reach new audiences around the world.

Comedy brings people together and helps us understand one another better. By finding the funny in cultural confusion, it’s possible to tap into deeper understanding.
Because culture is complicated: the customs and languages you learn as a kid are second-nature. But learning later – through love, work, as a student or while traveling – is hard.
Comedian and actor Derek Mitchell launched Double Dutch during the lockdown of early 2022, armed with just a green screen in a tiny studio apartment in Amsterdam.
Born and raised in the suburbs of the U.S. city of Chicago, Derek moved to the Amsterdam in 2013 and since 2015 has split his time between the Netherlands and the UK.

Double Dutch is for people who find the funny in other people and everyday things.
And the audience is truly global: internationals living in and near the Netherlands, Dutch people at home and abroad, and people around the world interested in cultural comedy.
